The Iowa 1:1 Institute exists to:
  • Help the Midwest’s 1:1 districts learn from each other about innovative teaching, learning, and administrative practices that are occurring in their districts;
  • Build excitement and ‘buzz’ around 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in the Midwest; and
  • Help others who are interested in 1:1 computing learn more about how to get started and be successful.
The institute is open to anyone interested in 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in P-12 schools, whether they currently are working in such a program or just want to learn more.

GMG Community School District
7-12 Principal
Serving my first year as a principal in Garwin, Iowa. GMG is a smaller school in Tama County, near Marshalltown, whose student population is over 50% open enrollment. I've spent the prior 11 years as an 8th grade history teacher in Plattsmouth, NE, after spending 1 year in Oakland, Iowa.
I love learning. I like providing students and teachers alike, the tools to learn the "how to" instead of the "what." Some of the best ideas I had in the past couple years I've learned from my colleagues on Twitter.
My PLN inspires me daily and helps me become a better classroom teacher, colleague and school leader.
