The Iowa 1:1 Institute exists to:
  • Help the Midwest’s 1:1 districts learn from each other about innovative teaching, learning, and administrative practices that are occurring in their districts;
  • Build excitement and ‘buzz’ around 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in the Midwest; and
  • Help others who are interested in 1:1 computing learn more about how to get started and be successful.
The institute is open to anyone interested in 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in P-12 schools, whether they currently are working in such a program or just want to learn more.

Technology Integration: Adding to Your Toolbox & Avoiding the Dessert Cart

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Avoid the trap of using technology as an extra, fun piece of the classroom experience just for end of unit projects or to keep students entertained. Technology is a real tool in the real world and should be in our classrooms as well. Items covered in this session will be changing this mindset along with practical strategies for how to decide to use technology, what to use when you do, and how you can save time, have more differentiation, and help more kids. Bring a device to see some of these strategies in action.

(Note: Presenter comes from a Chromebook 1:1 environment for grades 3-12, iPads in K-2. Focus of session will be secondary level strategies.)
