The Iowa 1:1 Institute exists to:
  • Help the Midwest’s 1:1 districts learn from each other about innovative teaching, learning, and administrative practices that are occurring in their districts;
  • Build excitement and ‘buzz’ around 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in the Midwest; and
  • Help others who are interested in 1:1 computing learn more about how to get started and be successful.
The institute is open to anyone interested in 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in P-12 schools, whether they currently are working in such a program or just want to learn more.

Heartland AEA
Instructional Technology Consultant
I have been in education for 28 years serving in 7 Iowa districts as a secondary English teacher, a K-6 Technology Integrationist, and a 7-12 Instructional Coach. I am now an in my third year as an Instructional Technology Consultant for Heartland AEA where I assist school districts in using technology purposefully and effectively. I have a passion for empowering students with technology as they tackle various learning challenges. Additionally, I work much in the field of digital citizenship and assist districts as they work to design lessons and curricula guiding students in maneuvering safely and effectively in their digital worlds. I am a Google Certified Educator Level 1 and 2, a Google Certified Trainer and teach the "How to Become a Google Certified Educator" course through Heartland. I look forward to networking with and learning from the many people here involved in education.
